I looked at the debian archive, but it only lists 1.1 through 3.1, and the getting debian page only lists methods to install debian 5. I am still able to go to the firmware boot and fire up the live USB.Īll I have at this point is the live USB stick and a MacBook. I want to install debian 4 etch (due to compatibility reasons I cant use debian 5 lenny) but I cant find it. I tried using the graphical installer three different times but the last time has made it so when I turn on my computer I just get a grey screen. When I booted up my computer at this point I was put at the Debian home screen where I have three options being "Debian GNU/Linux", "Advanced options for Debian GNU/Linux", and "System setup." When I click the first option I get end up with a screen that has the exact same error messages that I listed prior. ![]() I chose the option to use entire disk for partitioning by the way. I went through the process, and I was able to successfully install. Well I thought OK, that's fine I'll just use the graphical installer. Iwlwifi transaction failed, dumping registersįailing on timeout while stopping DMA channelĪfter this I get a black screen with just one white dash and am forced to reboot my computer. I first noticed something was off when I was in the installer and clicked the option "Debian GNU/Linux Live (kernel 4.19.0-9-amd64)", and the screen freezes up for a moment then I get these error messages: Unable to bind the codec I rebooted my computer and fired up the live USB. This ISO has no non-free (not open source) firmware. I used balenaEtcher to create the live USB. When you download Debian, it provides a minimal ISO by default. I got my ISO image from here, and the one I got is "Debian-live-10.4.0-amd64-xfce+nonfree.iso". I am trying to install Debian from a Live USB.
